True North Leadership

True North Leadership

Through Sal’s work in policing as the trailblazing first South Asian and Muslim Regional Director for London at the IOPC, he achieved remarkable recognition. His pioneering work led to the exposure of the toxic culture inside the Metropolitan Police, challenging discrimination in all forms and racial disproportionality at a regional and national level.

Sal’s portfolio has been referenced by Parliamentary Select Committees, academics, and national media, with the Guardian including his work on stop & search as one of the “key moments in police relations with Britain’s BAME communities since 1999.”

This work not only earned him numerous awards but also showcases his dedication to fighting discrimination and building inclusive cultures through leveraging his experience to nurture a new generation of values-based leaders.

As a thought leader and best-selling author, Sal is frequently invited to speak at conferences, universities, and corporate events nationally and internationally. He is recognised for his ability to craft compelling stories that engage audiences on challenging topics, including leadership, inclusive cultures, and changemaking.

His powerful talks inspire individuals to think critically about their roles in creating a better world, whether that begins in their workplace, community, or personal lives.

Sal is the author of the best-selling book, True North: A Story of Racism, Resilience, and Resisting Systems of Denial, which explores the power of values-based leadership both personally and professionally. He has also contributed to several documentaries on policing and appeared on national and international media.

Sal holds a law degree from the University of Glasgow and is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
