Domestic Abuse: employers are critical, culture matters

Last week, I joined 100+ leaders at the Employers' Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) event at Ashurst LLP, focused on a whole-of-society response to domestic abuse.

Through our strategic partnership with EIDA, the message is clear:

  • 1 in 4 people are affected.

  • £17bn annual cost to UK employers.

  • Halving VAWG in 10 years is only possible through collective action.

  • Domestic abuse is not a private issue. It is a workplace issue.

Employers are critical to prevention, early intervention, and recovery. Culture matters as much as policy.

At International Professional Security Association (IPSA), our focus is clear:

  • Make domestic abuse a core organisational priority

  • Drive EIDA membership across our sector

  • Scale practical tools like the SME Domestic Abuse Guide

We don’t need new solutions. We need to scale what works. Change is possible, but only if we treat this as a shared responsibility.
