SPECIALIST COURSES
Courses in specialist activities can
be arranged through associated training providers to meet
the particular requirements of individual clients in industry
and commerce. These may be held on the client's premises if
suitable or at a mutually convenient and acceptable venue.
Examples of some such courses are given below.
HANDCUFF TRAINING COURSE
This course is designed to give a candidate the concept of using handcuffs rather than a course for specific types. The candidate will use various types of handcuffs thereby learning the good and bad aspects of each. when operational it will not matter which type the candidate is issued, as the correct application will be firmly fixed in their mind. Certification is on successful completion of a practical and written evaluation. It is recommended that candidates reclassify every 12 months in order to remain court credible.
The Aim of the course is to increase the candidates knowledge and skill in the application of handcuffs.
The objectives are, at the end of the course the candidate will be able;
1. to understand the Home Office guidelines on the use of handcuffs,
2. To understand the current UK legislation on the Use of Force,
3. Develop an understanding of the Medical implications of the use of handcuffs,
4. develop the skills needed in the Carriage and daily checks. Parts of the equipment,
5. To develop the motor skills needed for the Grip, draw and correct application site. Various methods of application,
6. to develop the motor skills needed to apply the correct control holds to use when applying handcuffs and the safe method of removal. how to change handcuffs should the police wish to use theirs.
The course is of two days duration.
This training is offered to companies and is normally carried out on their premises.
A course would normally consist of even numbers up to 12 persons. Some companies join forces to make up the numbers.
SECURITY INDUCTION COURSES
These courses are designed to meet the requirements of client
organisations that do not employ a designated trainer to conduct
in house induction courses for new staff.
The courses are designed to act as a refresher course for
the staff and inform them of the company policies and practices,
command and control policies and assignment instructions for
contracts operated by the company. It ensures conformity with
the British Standards Code of Practice for Manned Guarding
(BS7499).
IPSA trainers may be engaged on an occasional or regular basis
for this work.

PROFESSIONAL RETAIL SECURITY OFFICER
This comprehensive three-day course has been designed to enhance
the operational ability of security officers involved in the
Retail sector of the Security Industry and provides the necessary
underpinning knowledge for the industry's National Vocational
Qualification -
Retail at Level 2.
